 what's in my

makeup bag

ITG is a beauty and lifestyle blog I've been following for quite some time now. the blog shares makeup/skincare routines of various influential people to celebrities. and they're so fun to read! I love seeing and finding out what people use in their daily lives. so I thought i'd share my little routine also.

disclaimer; this is the basis of my makeup routine aka the bare minimal, on-the-go, five minute friendly, no fluff stuff. I swap out variations of the products, but it follows the same pattern - face, eyes, face again, lippie. i'm always open for suggestions! leave a comment if there's a beauty product you like and suggest, or if it's a holy grail!

on a mission, in the mission

following hayes valley, there's the mission. drastically different, but just as rich in culture and things to do (and places to eat). two main streets off the mission, mission and valencia. hang out along the mission for the grit and culture. cross over one block to valencia for hip and millennials galore. definitely check it out! we went to plenty of plant stores and clarion alley. last leg of the day was at mission pie, where we actually saw someone eat the entire insides of the chicken pot pie, then..... brace yourself... threw out the remainder of the crust!!! how outrageous, crust is the best part. but that's just my opinion, we definitely finished ours.

ps. the coolest spot we stumbled upon, was a laundromat/cafe work place!!! called laundre. which actually pancakestacker a local blogger in the city did a fun little interview with the owner! read about it more, here

another day in hayes

hello! we stopped by my favorite shop (amongst many many) in hayes valley this weekend! plants and friends, a rather new shop filled to the brim with lush greenery and little plant-related knick knacks.

while we only we to plants and friends and souvla after for a greek yogurt pick-us-up, these are some of my favorite stores and restaurants in the neighborhood;

nosh:

arlequin cafe - the cutest cafe with an outdoor patio towards the back. a great place to sit down and work, read, or enjoy the quiet escape from the city sounds. (the half baguette and butter here is so simple but delish!)

souvla - always a line here, but for good reason! the food is sooo good here, it's worth the wait. get the chicken salad with fries and a frozen greek yogurt for later. you'll thank me after. (all three greek yogurt toppings are equally delicious, even the oddball olive oil with sea salt flakes, try it!)

a mano - italian!! such good italian foods with a secret menu dessert item, just ask your server about a apple galette.

monsieur benjamin - this aesthetically pleasing serves up some delicious french fare, with its fox logo imprinted onto all the plate ware

shop:

plants and friends - duh! nick here is the best!

lavish - need a gift+card? come here. the explosion of sparkle, unicorn dust, rifle paper and co., witty cards of all occasions, and everything stationary in between will have you spending a good amount of time here (two floors now!).

azalea sf - clothing shop curated of various well edited brands, founded in san francisco. they've now expanded to two other locations; one on valencia, and another in the east bay.

rand + statler - high end designer shop (with a section of aesop!), home to some amazing brands, some hard to find brands, and upcoming designers. the people here definitely have their radar on, always curating the latest items in store.

that's it for now! these are just some of my favorites - let me know what some of yours are in the hayes valley neighborhood! or if you've never been, what are some spots here you'd like to try? let me know, I'd love to discover more of the neighborhood!
